White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) offers internships. Interns work with senior White House officials. There are two types of internships. Policy interns work with OSTP’s policy divisions. Legal interns work with OSTP’s legal team. Both internships have Fall, Spring, and Summer terms.
Policy Internships
Policy interns work on national science and technology policy. Interns should have a passion for science and technology. They should also have strong research and writing skills. They must be able to work on several projects at once. Interns support outreach events and OSTP’s communications team. (Students interested in communications or public affairs should ask about opportunities to work with OSTP’s communications team.) Interns should have a desire for public service. Policy internships are open to students from all majors and academic programs. Any student, including law students, may apply for a policy internship.
Legal Internships
Law and LLM students can serve as legal interns. They have a unique opportunity to learn about law at the highest levels of the U.S. Government. Legal interns work under OSTP’s General Counsel and other attorneys. They gain diverse experience working on a wide range of matters. These include employment, appropriations, fiscal law, government contracts, and ethics. They also include information disclosure, international agreements, litigation, and legislative affairs. Legal internships are open ONLY to students enrolled in law school or an LLM program.
