The Department of Interior’s internship program is for high school to graduate students. Interns work in agencies and explore Federal careers. They are paid. Interns may be eligible for a permanent job after their internship. This program replaces the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) and Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP).

Eligibility

Interns can be students in high school, college, professional, technical, vocational, and trade schools. Students can also be in advanced degree programs. They can also be pursuing another degree or certificate. Interns can be hired on a temporary basis for up to one year for an initial period, or for an indefinite period, to complete the educational requirement.
