Abraxas Youth and Family Services provides drug and alcohol treatment programs for youth and their families. It operates community-based programs for youth that are offered close to the individual’s home and residential treatment programs for youth who receive treatment and counseling in other places. Abraxas has internships in counseling, juvenile justice, psychology, social work, and teaching.
Requirements for an Abraxas internship vary by school. Interns work with Abraxas youth and serve as role models for behavior, facilitate group activities, and provide mentorship to youth.
This internship is for undergraduate students, who may earn three to 13 credits for their service.
Time Commitment: Interns work 40 hours per week. They are required to send weekly e-mail reports to their supervisors.
