What is YE4C?
Youth Engaged 4 Change (YE4C) is a space for young people to work together and independently to complete meaningful projects from start to finish. YE4C’s mission is to provide resources and opportunities that inspire and empower young people to make a difference in their lives and in the world around them by improving their knowledge and leadership skills. The YE4C Editorial Board: Your Platform to Inform and Inspire Your Peers
The YE4C Editorial Board is a group of passionate young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are eager to expand their knowledge and empower youth and young adults. Joining the Board gives you the opportunity to write and create meaningful content, collaborate with the federal Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs, and be an ambassador to your peers. Board members will be part of a team of changemakers working together to support a federal website and social media platform that help young people thrive.
Board members can make an impact across a range of topics that matter to young people, such as financial literacy, digital literacy, employment, and healthy choices. This year, we’re especially looking for changemakers who can inspire their peers to make smart choices for their health. Let us know if you’re also interested in topics related to health, healthy habits, and navigating health systems, including chronic health conditions, unintentional injury prevention (e.g., car or bicycle crashes, drowning, falls, burns, sports injuries, accidental drug or medication overdose, etc.), healthy body image, risks associated with certain beauty products and behaviors, physical activity, nutrition, and/or preventive care in general, including dental and eye care.
This 11-month virtual consultant opportunity is paid and connects you with other changemakers who are doing interesting work. The Board is structured to give members the opportunity to learn how to collaborate effectively across time zones using different communication methods (like email, Zoom meetings, and messaging).
Launched in February 2020, the Editorial Board continues to evolve with input from past members to create a dynamic experience. Since it started, dozens of young people have actively engaged with YE4C and each other to be positive agents of change. We are excited to be recruiting our SEVENTH cohort!
Your Role on the YE4C Editorial Board
Write and Create YE4C Content: Work independently and with other Board members to create inspiring, informative content. Ensure content remains relevant and responsive to the needs of teens and young adults (ages 16–25) and aligned with Federal Government priorities.
Build Your Communications Skills: Communicate your ideas clearly and tailor your messages to reach youth and young adult audiences. Collaborate with fellow Board members to give and receive constructive feedback. Hone your creativity while finding new ways to communicate complex topics. Strengthen your time management and problem-solving skills while developing content. Improve your presentation skills by sharing with the Working Group at meetings.
Participate in Innovative Youth–Adult Partnerships: Pave the way for meaningful collaborations between young people and adults at the federal level, including special opportunities to work with federal agencies on resources for youth. Refine leadership skills while engaging in content development for platforms like YE4C, youth.gov, and beyond. Receive detailed feedback on your work from federal experts.
Be an Ambassador to Your Peers: Stay informed about the concerns and perspectives of young people nationwide by engaging your peers. Share YE4C content and opportunities with youth and young adults in your network, amplifying the reach on social media.

Ready to Apply?
If you’re between the ages of 16 and 25, prepared to commit 15–25 hours per month as a paid consultant, and passionate about empowering fellow young people, apply now! Your 11-month journey awaits, beginning in November 2026 and ending September 2027.
Editorial Board members will participate in at least one large-group meeting per month, along with one-on-one meetings with mentors and small-group meetings to work together with peers. Members will collaborate with peers and adults through email, messaging, and document review in addition to regular meetings. The most successful members will be comfortable working proactively and independently, addressing feedback, and adapting their work to meet requirements through multiple rounds of review; YE4C also welcomes applicants ready to develop these skills.
