The Youth Advisory Panel is part of The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health's established International Advisory Board. The panel is made up of five young people aged 16–24 years from diverse backgrounds, who have:
- Lived experience of an illness or a disability that significantly affects them,
- A passion for health advocacy, or
- An interest in global child health and rights.
Membership on the panel is a purely advisory role and is unpaid. This is not an internship and there are no editorial duties. As with The Lancet's other advisory board members, the journal hopes that youth panel members will provide feedback on the content the journal publishes (within their area of interest), inform the editors on suitable topics for the journal, and participate in The Lancet's podcasts. Advisory board members usually serve a 3 year term and members are eligible for a free online subscription to the journal during this time.
