Americans for the Arts supports the arts in America by working to ensure that every American has access to the arts. The organization advocates for leaders to understand the value of the arts, conduct research to see the benefits of the arts, create professional networks, and foster leadership for the arts.
This paid internship is for undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent graduates. Americans for the Arts offers leadership-building skills, career support, evaluations, member services, and academic support. Interns participate in daily activities and contribute skills and ideas. Interns develop leadership skills relevant to the arts, nonprofit organizations, and cultural institutions.
The following internships are available for the summer:
- Arts Education: focus on internal workings of the program including policy research, resource publications, education evaluation, and curriculum development.
- Arts Policy: focus on international arts and cultural policy issues.
- Leadership Alliances: work on projects related to major fall events, National Arts Awards, and the National Arts Policy Roundtable.
- Membership: assist in developing a positive customer experience for current and potential members.
- Research Services: work on research studies about America’s arts industry and internal programs.
Time Commitment: For summer 2019 internships: Interns work up to 30 hours per week from May 29, 2019, to the week of August 2, 2019.
Compensation: Interns are paid hourly, and the schedule is flexible.
